We are so excited to officially launch the second annual MOVE It Forward campaign! MOVE It Forward is a chance for all of us in the youth movement to work together on a singular issue at the same time. This year’s theme is Whole Health, Whole Self. MOVE It Forward is the slogan for much deeper work—uniting youth advocates and Youth MOVE chapter members across the country in crafting and presenting a message, a demand for change.

Last year, in celebration of Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day, Youth MOVE National launched the first-ever MOVE It Forward campaign. We asked chapters and youth nationwide to convene locally and online to discuss why youth voice matters in systems change. We saw this campaign as an opportunity to push forward important policy issues and youth-driven recommendations.

Chapters held focus groups in their own communities, gathered with us virtually, and even participated in our first Twitter chat. Check out our Twitter chat from 2016!

About This Year’s Theme: Whole Health, Whole Self

This year, we hope to recapture that energy for Whole Health, Whole Self by pushing for policy change in the workplace that is inclusive and understanding of every individual’s mental wellness—just as much as physical wellness. We’ll be doing our best to share information on the importance of recognizing all aspects of someone’s wellness, how to take ownership of your own mental wellness in the workplace, and how to advocate for policy change at work during the first couple weeks of May.

But you can also get involved:

  • Join our all-chapter call to discuss mental health at work (Thurs. April 27 at 6:30–7:30 p.m. Eastern)
Have your voice heard in our national community conversation process to help the Youth MOVE network build a policy briefing paper on youth and young adult mental wellness in the workplace. Invite ALL of your chapter members. Register at https://zoom.us/meeting/register/127558bd8eca37ef66858a512be5123a.

  • Join our Twitter chat (Wed. May 10 at 6–7 p.m. Eastern)
The hour will be a virtual conversation with advocates and partners on maintaining mental wellness in the workplace, how employers can be more accommodating to employees with mental health challenges, and advocating for mental health at work. Make sure to follow Youth MOVE National on Twitter at http://twitter.com/youthmove and use the hashtag #MOVEItForward.

  • Host a conversation in your own community (Throughout April and May)
Host a MOVE it Forward Community Conversation using the What Helps What Harms process around the theme of youth and young adults maintaining mental health in the workplace.

We can’t wait to see what you come up with!
